A gift from Emmanuel AME Church

For the one who has carried something heavy for a long time. Beyond What Happened is a quiet place to be honest with God, at your own pace, with no one rushing you.

God Sees You
You Are Not Invisible

We do not know what brought you here. Wherever you are, you are welcome. What happened to you matters, but it does not decide everything about who you are.

What this journal is

God Sees Me: I Am Not Invisible is a 30-day devotional journal for adults healing from abuse, including sexual abuse, domestic violence, emotional harm and spiritual abuse. It is written as spiritual companionship, not as a program to complete or a performance to give.

The journal begins with Hagar in the wilderness, a woman who was mistreated, alone and afraid, and who found out that God saw her and heard her. On Day 30 you return to Hagar’s story and see what a month of honest reflection has opened up. The wilderness is not proof that God has stopped listening.

Each day gives you:

A Scripture reading to anchor the day
A word for the journey, a short pastoral reflection that does not rush you toward an answer
A moment for reflection, a question you may answer or leave alone
A prayer for the day, in words you may borrow when your own are hard to find
A page for your reflections, private space to write, or to simply sit

There are no demands in these pages to disclose, to forgive, to reconcile or to return to anything unsafe. You can read at your own pace, pause when you need to, or take a day off. At the back is a list of support lines for the moments when prayer and reflection need to be joined by trained, practical help.

Gentle & Unhurried

Read one day or one week, skip a day, or set it down and return when you can. You will never be asked to tell your story, forgive, or reconcile.

Private & Safe

Your name and email are kept private and never sold or shared. Every day is written with your dignity and safety in mind, and help numbers are inside.

Rooted in Scripture

Thirty days of Scripture, gentle reflection, prayer and room to write, beginning with Hagar, the woman God saw in the wilderness.

WHAT YOU WILL NEVER BE ASKED TO DO

You will not be asked to tell your story, to forgive, to reconcile, or to go back to anyone or anything that is unsafe. You may read one day or one week, skip a day, close the book and return when you can. You do not have to turn your pain into a testimony for anyone.

A WORD ABOUT YOUR SAFETY

This journal offers pastoral comfort and spiritual companionship. It is not counseling, legal advice or crisis care, and faith and professional help can walk together. If you are in danger right now, please reach out for help when it is safe to do so. Trained people are ready to listen, and they will not ask you to make any decision before you are ready.
